Photo gallery: Manchester Irish Festival launch

THE Manchester Irish Festival was first launched in 1996, and since then the annual event has gone from strength to strength.

The 10-day event kicked off at Manchester Town Hall last Friday in great style. Hosted by Lord Mayor Elaine Boyes, helping to launch the event was the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Sir Peter Fahy whose parents came from Dublin and Galway.

The great hall was packed to capacity and everyone lucky to be there were entertained by dancers, singers and some great music.

More Manchester:

Pictured here at a reception in the Lord Mayor’s parlour are co-chairs of the festival Kevin Fitzpatrick and Cllr. John Flanagan with Cathy Barnicle Third Secretary at the Irish Embassy.
