Moloney still undecided over Kerry return

LONDON full-back Mike Moloney will make a decision in the coming days regarding his involvement with the panel next year after admitting that he’s mulling over an offer from the University of Limerick.

Moloney, who starred for the London footballers in their historic win over Fermanagh in June, has been working as an engineer since moving to the UK last spring.

But the Kerry native has been tempted by the offer of a place on a post-graduate course at UL, which would keep him in Ireland for the next 18 months.

More Sport:

“I’m in two minds at the moment,” Moloney told The Irish Post. “I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet though. I’ll talk it over with people during Christmas and come to a decision then.”

Moloney would be a big loss to both London and his club Kingdom Kerry Gaels and has been given a deadline of the first week in January to make a decision, with the UL course due to begin three weeks later.

The 24-year-old helped Dr Crokes to win Kerry and Munster Club SFC titles last year and was part of the Kerry team that won an All-Ireland U-21 title in 2008.

He also captained the Kerry senior team during the McGrath Cup last January.

London’s 2012 season begins with a game against Sligo IT in the FBD League on January 6. Moloney has remained part of the Exiles panel as they prepare for the new season but is unsure of his future involvement.

He added: “I was training away with London and things have been going very well. A lot of very good players have come on to the panel and there’ll be a strong team there next year.

“This year was a great year and we’ll be hoping to build on that. I’d love to be involved in that obviously but we’ll see what happens over the next week or so.”
