Restaurant owner Mary O’Reilly – Dee’s sister – told The Irish Post that her progress had been huge for the family.

“Dee ended up in a wheelchair after her stroke,” Mary said. “She’d been told that the worst case scenario was that she’d die and that the best case scenario was that she’d be a vegetable.

“When Dee managed to climb the stairs she was incredibly ecstatic, she was amazed. It made her believe that anything was possible.”

Since the video was uploaded two days ago, it has been viewed 3,700 times and has been shared almost 300 times.

Last night we posted a video showing Dee climbing the church steps in Bandon, Many people did not realise that Dee had a severe stroke in December 2013 and had been in a wheelchair up to 11 months ago. This video shows Dee's very emotional first attempt yesterday at climbing steps without assistance or stick, shot about an hour before previous shown video.
