More Sport:

For this week only training will take place on Friday night at 19:30, as we have a friendly match vs London Juniors in Perivale Park on Wednesday night. Training will revert to the usual times next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 19:30 sharp in Perivale Park – Postcode UB6 8TJ. If the location, day or time is to change please keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook page for updates. Transport to and from training and pick-up from stations/bus stops can be arranged, if required. The Joes put in a spirited performance at Colindale last Sunday past. however came up short against a very strong Fulham Irish outfit. We started the stronger of the two teams and rattled off a number of points in the opening 15 minutes, but Fulham Irish came back strong and started to dominate, responding with fine scores of their own, leaving the Joes rueing a number of missed opportunities. The Joes, however, plugged away and led by a point at the interval thanks to a fine effort from Emmet Haughey which seen the ball rattle the back of the net. The second-half seen Fulham Irish come out all guns blazing and rattled off 1-5 without response to leave them in an extremely dominant position with a large portion of the 2nd period remaining. However, to our credit, the Joes plugged away and scored 1-1 in the latter stages, Emmet Haughey netting his second major of the day. However this was not enough to prevent the first loss of the season as Fulham chipped away at the scoreboard. A brave performance from the team against an experienced side, which will stand to them going forward in the division. FT score St.Joseph’s 2-04 Fulham Irish 4-08. The Joes take on Harlesden Harps in the final of the Murphy cup final in Mill Hill this Sunday (22/05). Throw in at 14:30 with all players asked to be at the Venue no later than 13:30.

After the triumph in the McArdle Cup the previous weekend, the Juniors were back in action in the second round of the league at Tottenhall, after a good fight back in the second half to earn a draw at 0-8 each against the Taras. Next up is Eire Og on Sunday, May 22, 2.30pm at Downhill Park. The club are hosting our annual presentation evening on Saturday May 28 at the clubhouse. The Seniors will be presented with their winning championship and league medals whilst the Juniors will be presented with their home grown championship medals. Player of the year awards for the Seniors, Juniors, Ladies, Young Player will be awarded as well as Club Person of the Year. The presentation will take place following the conclusion of the Ladies 7s and the Seniors four-team tournament contesting the Francie O’Donnell Memorial Cup.

The Camogs made another piece of history with the clubs first ever camogie game played in Goodmayes on Saturday. They beat Brothers Pearse on a scoreline of 5-3 to 2-4 in the final round of the league. Meanwhile the hurlers lost out to a strong Brothers Pearse side on Sunday in the first round of their league campaign. Championship fever will take hold of east London for the first time this summer this week as both the Men’s and Ladies’ footballers are in action. On Tuesday the men will host the newly formed Naomh Padraig in the Preliminary Round of the Junior Championship at Goodmayes while the Ladies travel to Scrubs on Wednesday evening to play Fulham Irish in their first match at the Intermediate grade. This weekend all four adult teams will be in action.

The club reached another significant milestone at the weekend as it fielded a second team for the first time. However, against a very strong Round Towers side, Eire Og struggled throughout and were beaten comprehensively. Both teams are playing this Sunday. The reserves will play Harlesden Harps in Tottenhall at 12 o’clock while the first team will be at home to Tir Chonaill Gaels at half two in our first league encounter. All support is welcome. The club would like to thank everyone who attended our race night at the Faltering Fullback on Sunday past. The club would particularly like to thank all who helped on the night especially the lads who moved seats so we could sit closer to the TV; much appreciated!
